CONGRATULATIONS!! Danny Hein and Didier Germain on capturing the 2009 NOPWT Angler of the year award.  The duo actually tied with respect to points with Dave Stiles and Ron Drapeau but the tie breaker went to Dan and Didier.  The pair had alot of pressure on them going into the final event as they knew the only way to win the Angler of the Year race would be to win the final event on the circuit. They did not disappoint.  For complete 2009 Standings view the link below.  The tournament trail had its best year ever with over 900 participating members.

Princecraft’s NOPWT opens at Mattagami First Nation

A record field of 134 teams that included Canada’s’ famous fishing brothers Bob & Wayne Izumi gathered at Mattagami First Nation to take their shot at the over $18000.00 in prizes available to the top walleye anglers.

Frigid temperatures greeted the anglers Saturday morning and plenty of winter wear was in evidence.  Things wouldn’t change much throughout the day as persistent winds kept anglers bundled up in hopes they would be able to feel the bites when they came. (complete story)

WELCOME TO THE NOPWT WEBSITE

The NOPWT is a contest that awards anglers points at each of five tournaments. Events include Mattagami, Dubreuilville, Geraldton,  Kapuskasing, and Timmins.  Anglers receive points based on their finish in that event with their 3 best finishes used to calculate their placement in the "Angler of the Year" race.

The NOPWT is proud to bring you this site as a means of increasing communication among current anglers. We also welcome prospective participants and others to see what's happening on the NOPWT in 2008.

Check out our member tournaments, results, angler profiles, schedules, and rules. Plenty of pictures of the action are in the gallery, or you can see who's ahead in the race for "Angler of the Year".

Learn how you can promote your business/product as a supporter of the NOPWT.

Curious about fishing the NOPWT, or one of our events?  Post your questions or comments on the message board and a member of the NOPWT will provide you with the answers.

The NOPWT circuit is run by anglers for anglers and is designed to help anglers promote themselves as well as the sport of tournament angling in Northern Ontario.  Everyone involved are volunteers and appreciate any feedback.

Thanks again for visiting,

NOPWT AIM's At The Top

The NOPWT will now bring a new opportunity for anglers who dream of making it to the big leagues of walleye tournament fishing.

With the disbanding of the former In-Fisherman Professional Walleye Trail at the end of the 2008 season, a new group has come forward with a plan for the future.

Anglers Insight Marketing (AIM) has announced a 3 tournament series culminating with the inaugural AIM International Walleye Championship on Lake Winnibigoshish in Minnesota September 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, 2009.

In addition to qualifying through the AIM tournament series there will be room made for top-ranked anglers from as many as 50 national/regional/local walleye tournament organizations from the U.S. and Canada.

We are proud to announce that the NOPWT has been allotted 2 PRO positions at the International Walleye Championship! Two of our anglers will be offered the chance to fish for the over $75 000.00 first place prize at the AIM championship.

In order to meet AIM timelines, the two spots will be awarded by using anglers best 2 of 3 finishes at the first 3 events of the 2009 season. The events will be : Mattagami First Nation / Dubreiulville Father's Day / Geraldton Walleye Classic. Any ties will be resolved the same as the NOPWT angler of the year.

More details will be provided as they become available.

Presenting the 2008 NOPWT Angler of the Year

Denis Martin

In one of the closest races in NOPWT history, Denis Martin used a fourth place finish in the final event of the year to edge out Terry Bernath and claim the NOPWT Angler of the Year Award.  Denis used consistent fishing throughout the summer to best the more than 800 member anglers of the NOPWT.   His finishes included a 2nd place in Geraldton, a 3rd place in Kapuskasing, and a 4th place in Timmins.  It is the fist time the Angler of the Year title has been won without winning one of the five events.  Denis proved that consistency is the key to winning one of the most prestigous awards in Northern Ontario walleye fishing.  Congradulations Denis and good luck repeating your feat as many aglers will be vying for the honor.
